For those of you who attended the 2016 Banquet, you were no doubt inspired by the presentation made by FIRE (Fernie Inspire the Race to Empower) Adaptive Ski Program Founder, Grace Brulotte. Highline has suppported FIRE for 4 years, donating over $12,000 and allowing the organization to grow and support more skiiers and volunteers.
We have recently learned that Grace herself is in need of a new wheelchair, that will cost in excess of $8,000 plus costs of travel to and from Calgary for fittings. Grace has spinal curvature and her current seating system is creating skin breakdown and extreme pain. The Highline Committee has decided we should get involved and help out Grace and her family ASAP! Let's give back to someone who has given so much.
OUR FUNDRAISING GOAL IS $10,000
RAISED TO DATE $6,100

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT GRACE:
Donations can be customized by purchasing multiple units when you checkout. ie if you want to give $250 'purchase' 1 unit x $50 and 2 units x $100.
Grace Brulotte was born with a rare congenital disorder called arthrogryposis, a condition that stiffens body joints. “This affects one in 3000 live births” Grace says. Grace constantly overcomes obstacles. Others may get gloomy about a bad day but for Grace each day is a bad day full of challenges.
With a fiercely independent spirit it seems ironic that she has to depend on bodily assistance at times and on a specialized wheelchair most of the time.Grace may be physically challenged but she has been blessed with a quick, bright mind.
Although she doesn’t have mobility in her legs and feet and very limited mobility in her arms and hands this young woman plays the piano well and has co-authored a book. Articulate and knowledgeable about her condition she founded “FIRE” in 2011. “Fernie Inspire the Race to Empower” is the disabled skiing program now available at Fernie Alpine Resort (FAR).
