The HighLine100
Bicycle Tour Society welcomes you to the 2007
edition of the HighLine100
What is it?
The Highline 100 is a fun bicycle ride, not a race,
where you have your choice of doing either 100 miles
(160kms) or 100 kms road ride, plus there will be a
fun ride and bike parade for the kids.
It
is a fund raiser for the Elk Valley Hospital
Foundation and FAST (Fernie Alpine Ski Team).
See pictures of past rides on our
photos section.
When?
Saturday, August 11, 2007. Start time 7:00 AM sharp.
Event goes rain or shine!!
Where?
Start line is at the very top of Highline Close at
the Fernie Alpine Resort, just meters above Lizard
Creek Lodge and the Snow Creek Lodge.
The course descends down Highline Close, through the
Timberline subdivision, to Highway 3. We proceed
south on Highway 3, past Elko to the junction of
Highways 3&93. From there we go south to the
Canada/USA border, and for those who bring their
passports along, we can cross the border and enjoy a
“refreshment” at the First & Last Chance Bar. Once
refreshed, it’s back up across the border with a
stop at the Burnside Store where you will be treated
to a coffee and the best cinnamon bun in Western
Canada. From there we continue north, and west, to
the Surveyor’s Lake/Kikkoman Creek area where we
will have a nutritious and filling lunch. This marks
the end of the ride for those wanting to do 100 kms.
Bring your bathing suit to enjoy a swim in the lake. Shuttle vehicles will be provided to take you back
to Fernie Alpine Resort. For those riders doing the
100 mile distance, it’s back in the saddle again to
link up with Highway 3 and return to Fernie Alpine
Resort.
The kid’s ride will start from the
start/finish line on Highline Close at 1:00pm, and will
meander through the Timberline subdivision, before
heading back up Highline Road to Highline Close.
There will also be a bike parade and prizes for the
best decorated bike.
New this year will be a slightly more challenging 10
km kid’s ride for the “tweens” which will follow the
5 km ride, then include some of the mountain bike
trails in the Fernie Alpine Resort area.
What does it cost?
The adult registration fee of $150.00 will include:

refreshment” at The First & Last Chance
